Rome Day Three 

Our third day in Italy and Day Two of the Heart of Italy Tour began with breakfast at the hotel and then a quick walk to the Vatican Museums and Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel.

 

This was our first Museum tour and it was wonderful to have the VIP treatment as a Rick Steves guest. The line to enter was long, but we were able to move quickly with our knowledgeable and connected local guide Marta. 

 

One of the cool things about a Rick Steves Tour is that along with our main guide Stephanie, who was like our Den Mother, and with us along the journey, in each city, we had access to local guides that had deep expertise on the region, the history, and the culture. 

 

We were able to explore all of the treasures of the Vatican Museums, Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel. 

and at St. Peter's Basilica, Michelangelo's Pietà.
