Volterra 

I love a Tuscan hill town and Volterra delivers! Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, Volterra is one of the most important and ancient towns of Tuscany, with a glorious past in Etruscan, Roman and medieval eras. 

Our day in Volterra was wonderful. We were able to see so much of this beautiful Hill Town with a guided walking tour with an American woman who married a local and moved to Volterra, it seemed right out of a dream!

Her ability to make Volterra's traditions and history come alive with story and history was both informative and fun.

We were also able to visit an alabaster workshop and tour the Guarnacci Etruscan Museum where we learned a lot about the customs and traditions of the ancient civilizations of this region.  

One of my favorite parts of this day was just exploring the town, shopping, and eating. Oh, and of course, the organized group wine tasting in the evening, was a wonderful way to end a full day in Volterra.
