Roma Day Two!

"Travel like Gandhi, with simple clothes, open eyes, and an uncluttered mind.” -Rick Steves

Our first full day we were up early for breakfast at The Hotel Aberdeen, before heading over to our first hotel for the start of the Rick Steve's Heart of Italy Tour.

We were both excited to get settled into the Rome Hotel where we'd be staying two nights before moving on. The hotel was in the Prati district and was close great shopping!

Our room was awesome! We had a small terrace and we felt as if we had scored, the best room for that fun feature. (You can see it in the bottom right photo above.)

We hit the streets for sightseeing, shopping, and pizza before getting back to the hotel to meet our soon to be tour mates at 3:00 PM.

At our first gathering, we made introductions and then headed out for an orientation walk and metro lesson.

Our guide Stephaine, made sure we all knew how to use both the subway and bus system and together we explored a dolce vita inspired trek through the heart of Rome, soaking up the city's evening ambiance at the classy Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, and the remarkably preserved, 2,000-year-old Pantheon.

Mastering the metro, we were able to walk around a bit before dinner. Momand I snuck off for these small gelatos because, well..."When in Rome!"

After a wonderful pasta dinner with the group at Ristorante Da Pancrazio we chose to walk home and were able to walk by Trevi Fountain and The Fountain of the Four Rivers.
